A walk I have been planning to do for quite some time is a circuit from Glenridding, up Grisedale, Dollywaggon, Helvellyn, Whiteside and Glenridding Common. Last week I was thwarted by the weather (see my walk report), and called it a day with thick clag just above Grisedale Tarn.
Yesterday I thought I would have another crack at it, but in reverse, i.e. starting up Greenside Road. The forecast was reasonable, although a bit windy, but in essence it was a 100% improvement on last week.
Everything was going swimmingly well until I approached the summit of Whiteside, when I was hit be winds of Biblical strength! I started up Lower Man, but just short of the summit I was forced to turn round. As they say, the mountain will be there tomorrow!
